Description
Aria Pro II RS Series Smooth Joint (1984, Matsumoku, Japan)
This vintage gem, crafted in the renowned Matsumoku factory in Japan, another great example of 1980s Japanese guitar craftsmanship. As a rare piece, it’s a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts of Aria guitars.
Specifications:
- Body: Likely ash, paired with a fully maple neck
- Neck: Serious small neck, topped with a maple fretboard.
- Pickups: Three single-coil pickups in an SSS configuration
- Controls: One master volume knob, two tone regulators, and a five-way selector switch.
- Scale Length: 25.5 inches, a standard for precision and comfort.
- Tremolo System: Equipped with a synchronized tremolo, though the arm is bent, making it tricky to remove and doesn’t stay in place anymore (spring is gone),
Condition: This guitar shows its age through significant playwear. The body features visible buckle rash and light scratches from tremolo use, but the structure remains intact with no wood damage. It has been well-loved, making it an instrument full of character.
Why It’s Special: The Aria Pro II RS Series stands out for its rarity and the exceptional build quality typical of Matsumoku-era instruments. Collectors appreciate the series’ unique smooth joint neck construction and its tonal flexibility. This was my very first guitar, the reason she’s going out of the private collection right now is simply because she deserves someone to play her.
