Ibanez Artist 2612 Black 1973-1976 – Made in Japan – With Original Case
The Ibanez Artist 2612, produced between 1973 and 1976, represents one of Ibanez’s early ventures into original guitar designs, marking a departure from their previous focus on replicating American models.
Specifications:
Body: The guitar features a solid mahogany body with an arched birch top, black and white binding. Its symmetrical double-cutaway design offers a comfortable access to higher frets.
Neck: It has a bolt-on, hard laminated birch neck with a 24¾” scale length. The rosewood fingerboard has distinctive pearloid block inlays featuring star motifs, complemented by black side dots.
Frets: Equipped with 22 Velve Touch frets
Hardware: The 2612 comes with gold-plated hardware, including Deluxe Smooth Tuner machine heads. It features a Tune-O-Matic style fixed bridge paired with a stop bar tailpiece, contributing to its stable tuning and sustain.
Pickups: Fitted with two Super 70 humbucking pickups, known for their bright and articulate tonal qualities, reminiscent of vintage Gibson PAFs.
Controls: The guitar offers individual volume and tone controls for each pickup, along with a 3-way toggle switch for versatile tonal options.
Current Condition:
Playability: The guitar is in okay condition and has been played extensively, indicating its reliability and the enjoyment it has provided over the years.
Cosmetic Details: There is lacquer damage on the back; however, there is no wood damage. Scratches and some buckle wear all around
Modifications: While the guitar retains all its original components, the volume and tone knobs have been replaced, and the pickguard is missing.
